Olive oil is too strong a flavour and more expensive than vegetable oil, so a bit of a waste but you can replace with sunflower. We don’t have canola oil in Brighty but if it looks light in colour it might be a goer.

Canola oil will be fine, olive oil might be okay to, but it might alter the taste slightly, if it’s light olive oil you prolly could get away with it.

I’m sure canola oil would work just fine. If you have to, you could probably use olive oil. (the lighter the olive oil the better though if you don’t want strong olive flavor)

Most any oil will do, it just may alter the flavor. Vegetable oil is very bland in taste, so its just used for the consistency. Note that oil is pure fat…if you want to, use a half cup of applesauce instead of the oil. It still tastes fantastic, but you cut a LOT of the fat out, and get the nutrition of an apple! And it doesnt end up tasting like apple either! Its an amazing substitute you should def try!

The canola oil will definately work, as will a mixture of the canola and olive oil, going lighter on the olive oil. An equal amount of apple sauce can also stand in for the oil in a box cake recipe.

I always use Canola - it’s one of the healthiest oils and doesn’t leave an aftertaste.

Canola oil is fine but if you use olive oil it’s not going to taste right.

I don’t ever use cake mixes, but some of my quick bread recipes call for oil, and I’ve used a variety before- except olive oil- Because it’s too strong a flavour. As far as ‘working’ goes, it would work fine, it would just produce a strong flavour that would be not so desirable. Any mild flavoured oil will do (obviously if you bake a lot you want a big bottle of something vegetable for the sake of price). Applesauce works fine too. I’ve altered a few carrot cake recipes this way because I felt the amount of oil was a bit over the top.
