I am going to fry chicken wings and the recipe says to make sure the oil is a certain temp. I don’t have any way to know how hot the oil is, are there any ways of figuring this out? I am making the wings in 20 minutes so I can’t go out and buy a thermometer.

Flick a few drops of water in with your fingers. If it splatters, it’s ready:) … but BE CAREFUL!
add drop of flour or breadcrumbs to oil and wait to see if it sizzles. should sizzle be right away if its hot.
a few cumin seeds or musturd seeds works best and are safest for trying,
just drop a few drops of water into the oil and it if sizzles and bubbles it is hot, if it dont sizzle wait a few mins and try agian. but watch out it could pop on you.
