oil
MKN asked:

I cannot control the temperature of this Foreman grill, it’s the kind that you plug in and that’s it.

Should I use a non-stick spray or use regular oil? Can I use extra virgin olive oil, or does it get too hot for that? Which types are safe and will not reach their “smoke point” on the Foreman?

Right now I’m using a store-brand canola-based spray, and it smokes quite a bit.

I would use a regular non stick cooking spray like Pam. That is what I use and I have never had a problem with it smoking up. Good luck!

Try getting sunflower oil if you can it shouldn’t burn. Don’t use butter or olive oil.

Here is a guide to oil smoke points

I don’t use any oil or spray on my George Foreman - it’s already a non-stick surface. I’ve never had any trouble with any meats or veggies or sandwiches sticking to it.

Personally, I would throw it out and get one you can control the temperature on. That is crazy. But even if I put mine on high from the beginning, there is no need for oil of any kind. Don’t tell me it is not teflon coated . . .

I have the same kind of George Foreman grill and never had a problem with smoking. I even use butter, not sure what’s going on there. Does it burn your food? If so look up George Forman online and get the customer support number. Call them and tell them about the problem you are having, they may have tips or even send you a new one depending on how new the grill is.
